Wireless Metrology Inspection

As the authority in industrial digitisation, 3D Printer Superstore is proud to introduce the Shining 3D FreeScan Omni—a landmark achievement in metrology-grade 3D scanning. Engineered for the most demanding manufacturing and quality control environments, the FreeScan Omni redefines the portable workflow by integrating scanning, processing, and inspection into a single, standalone unit.

The FreeScan Omni eliminates the need for a tethered PC or external workstation during data acquisition. By moving the heavy lifting of point-cloud processing to the device itself, users can achieve Metrology-Grade On-Scanner Inspection directly on the shop floor, ensuring that critical pass/fail decisions are made at the point of manufacture.

The Apex of Wireless Metrology

The FreeScan Omni series is designed to handle the entire "Scan-to-Inspect" workflow with zero downtime. Whether you are performing high-speed captures of large automotive frames or detailed inspections of precision-machined components, the Omni provides the versatility and certified accuracy required for Industry 5.0.

3D Scanning Technologies

Adaptive Scanning Modes

The FreeScan Omni is engineered to adapt instantly to the geometry at hand. By combining high-density blue laser arrays with infrared VCSEL technology, it offers four distinct scanning modes to tackle everything from aircraft fuselages to intricate engine components.

Integrated Intelligence: All laser modes are enhanced by AI Hole Boundary Detection, which automatically identifies round and square holes during the scan to extract precise centre-point coordinates and diameters, eliminating the noise often found at the edges of drilled features.

Integrated Video Photogrammetry (VPG)

The FreeScan Omni features VPG technology, allowing for high volumetric accuracy of 0.02 +- 0.015mm/m measurements of large parts without the need for traditional coded markers. This is a game-changer for heavy machinery and structural engineering, where prep time is often the most expensive part of the process.

Marker-less Scanning

IR Rapid Scan Mode Infrared VCSEL

The Agile Tracker: For quick inspections or objects where applying markers is not feasible, the Omni engages its Infrared VCSEL light source. This mode enables markerless scanning, allowing you to grab geometry instantly without surface preparation.

Key Benefit: Perfect for soft parts, fragile artefacts, or quick "sanity check" measurements where applying stickers is impossible or forbidden.

High-Speed Scan Mode

93 Crossed Blue Laser Lines

The Engine Room: This is the primary mode for rapid data acquisition on large surfaces. Activating 93 cross-hatch blue laser lines, it captures vast amounts of data in seconds, making it ideal for scanning vehicle bodies, large castings, and structural assemblies where speed is the priority.

Key Benefit: Maximises efficiency by covering large surface areas with fewer passes.

Detailed Scan Mode

25 Parallel Blue Laser Lines

The Precision Instrument: When geometry gets complex, this mode switches to 25 parallel laser lines. It is specifically optimised for capturing fine details, sharp edges, and intricate features that require higher resolution and reduced noise.

Key Benefit: Delivers high-fidelity data for complex parts like turbine blades or ornate mouldings.

Understanding the Omni vs. Omni Lite

The FreeScan Omni Series is a unique, software-defined platform. Because the hardware chassis, sensors, and scanning arrays are identical across both models, the "Lite" version represents a modular entry point that can be scaled into a full-production powerhouse at any time.

The FreeScan Omni Lite is physically identical to the standard Omni—possessing the same laser lines, same speed, and same resolution—but allows users to opt-out of the advanced on-board analysis tools if they prefer to process data externally.

Integrated Video Photogrammetry (VPG)

Omni: Shipped with VPG enabled for metrology-grade volumetric accuracy on large objects (0.015 mm/m).

Lite: VPG is present but inactive. It can be added as an upgrade if you transition from scanning small parts to large-scale industrial components.

Why should I buy the Lite version now?
It is the ultimate "risk-free" purchase. You can deploy a metrology-grade, wireless scanner for your current budget and rest easy knowing that you can instantly upgrade to a large-scale, high-speed powerhouse whenever a new client or project requires it.
