Bambu PLA Aero is a foaming PLA filament that produces low-density and lightweight parts. It achieves this by foaming at high temperatures during printing, which creates small holes inside the model. This makes it an ideal material for printing items where weight reduction is critical, such as drones, aerodynamic models, and gliders.

Key Properties
🪶 Low Density and Light Weight
While the filament itself has a density similar to regular PLA, the final printed parts are significantly lighter. Prints made with PLA Aero have a density that is only 50% to 80% of standard PLA. This means a model printed with PLA Aero will be about half the weight of an identical one printed with PLA Basic.
🎛️ Controllable Model Density
You can adjust the final density and weight of your prints. To achieve a lower density (a lighter part), you can increase the printing temperature and lower the flow rate in your slicer settings.
Tough with Good Impact Resistance
Compared to pre-foaming Wood PLA, Bambu PLA Aero and its prints are tougher and more resistant to impact, collision, and falling.
Matte Finish For Easy Colouring
Bambu PLA Aero provides an easy-to-color matte surface texture with better dyeing results as compared to PLA Basic.
Printing Considerations
⚠️ Special Requirements
PLA Aero requires careful preparation for successful printing. The material is sensitive to moisture and needs to be thoroughly dried before use. It also requires very specific parameter settings. Bambu Lab strongly recommends reading their dedicated printing guide for PLA Aero before starting a print.
