Bambu Lab P2S Filament Buffer

An essential line-level tension management component engineered specifically for the Bambu Lab P2 Series. Installed directly onto the rear panel of the chassis, the P2S Filament Buffer dynamically counters inline feed resistance and manages micro-fluctuations in tension during high-speed multi-material operations.

In addition to regulating input tracking when connected to a primary Automatic Material Systems (AMS/AMD 2 Pro, AMS HT), this module serves as a critical telemetry link for the printer’s predictive safety systems. Its built-in sensor array directly informs the physical filament tangle detection protocol—ensuring structural print protection and reducing mechanical wear on the primary extruder drive.

Note: The standalone P2S (without AMS) does not include a filament buffer.

For AMS/AMS 2 Pro owners, to connect P2S you may need to have a Filament Buffer - P2S (SA011) and Bambu Bus Cable (CAB035).

Please be aware that the absence of the filament buffer will affect the accuracy of filament tangle detection feature.

Core Operational Dynamics

    Active Tension Dampening: Operates via a precision-calibrated linear spring and slider assembly. When the toolhead draws filament rapidly or the AMS pushes material forward, the internal slider shifts linearly to absorb momentary kinetic shock, eliminating feeding hesitation.  

    Integrated Tangle Telemetry: Serves as the mechanical feedback loop for external spool setups. If material knots or experiences high resistance, the slider is pulled out of its nominal tracking envelope. The onboard Hall-effect sensor identifies this displacement instantly, prompting the P2S firmware to pause the print job and save the build.  

    Optimised Multi-Material Routing: Features an internal Y-shaped filament path designed to cleanly direct inputs from both the automated feed lines and dedicated external spools without requiring manual pneumatic line swapping.
