Bambu PETG Translucent is a specialised engineering filament designed to provide exceptional light transmittance and robust physical properties. Unlike standard PETG, this material is optimised to minimise common printing challenges such as stringing, clumping, and nozzle sticking, resulting in a cleaner finish with glass-like transparency when printed with optimised settings.
This filament is engineered for projects that require optical transparency or vibrant light diffusion. With eight available colours—including Translucent Light Blue, Teal, Orange, and Purple—it allows for creative freedom in lighting fixtures, decorative containers, and functional prototypes where internal visibility is required. The material’s transparency can be further enhanced by adjusting parameters like layer height, speed, and temperature to minimise internal scattering.
Beyond its visual appeal, Bambu PETG Translucent is a highly durable material suitable for functional applications.
Weather Resistance: Inherently waterproof and UV-resistant, making it a reliable choice for outdoor enclosures and components exposed to the elements.
Impact Strength: Exhibits a high impact strength of 37.4 kJ/m², providing significantly better durability than standard PLA.
Heat Stability: With a Vicat softening temperature of 79°C, it maintains its structural integrity in moderately high-temperature environments.
To achieve the most transparent, glass-like results, standard print settings are often insufficient. Based on laboratory observations, we recommend the following expert adjustments:
Slow Down for Clarity: Reduce outer wall speeds to 15–20 mm/s. This gives the polymer more time to fuse without trapping micro-bubbles.
Layer Height: Use a larger layer height (e.g., 0.3mm) to reduce the number of internal interfaces that scatter light.
Temperature Boost: Printing at the higher end of the range (260°C) improves polymer flow and reduces visible layer lines, though it may require more aggressive retraction to manage stringing.
Zero Cooling: For single-walled parts like vases or light covers, disable the cooling fan entirely to ensure maximum layer fusion.
Bambu PETG Translucent features an optimised formula that reduces the "stickiness" often associated with PETG. It is fully compatible with the Bambu Lab AMS (Automatic Material System), utilising RFID technology to automatically sync material settings and track remaining filament.
Moisture Management: This filament is sensitive to humidity. It must be dried at 65°C for 8 hours before use and stored in a low-humidity environment (<20% RH) to prevent bubbles and maintain clarity.
Hardware Compatibility: For best results, use a 0.4mm, 0.6mm, or 0.8mm hardened steel or stainless steel nozzle. The 0.2mm nozzle is not recommended.
Bed Adhesion: Compatible with Cool Plate SuperTack, Smooth PEI, and Textured PEI plates. The use of Bambu Liquid Glue or a Glue Stick is recommended for reliable adhesion and easy part removal.
