When your 3D printed parts need to perform in demanding, real-world environments, standard PLA or PETG simply won’t cut it. For applications where safety, heat, and impact are critical factors, you need an engineering-grade material.
Meet Bambu Lab PC FR—a high-performance polycarbonate (PC) filament engineered specifically for superior strength, high thermal resistance, and certified flame retardancy.
As the leading Australian reseller for Bambu Lab, 3D Printer Superstore provides genuine, locally-stocked Bambu filament shipped fast from our Australian warehouses. Move beyond prototyping and start creating production-ready, compliant functional parts today.
Certified UL94 V-0 Flame Retardancy This is the feature that matters most for critical applications. Bambu PC FR is officially certified to the UL94 V-0 standard. This means that in testing, the material self-extinguishes within 10 seconds on a vertical specimen, making it the essential choice for electronics casings, battery housings, and any component requiring mandatory fire safety compliance.
Exceptional Toughness & Impact Resistance Don’t choose between strength and safety. As a polycarbonate, PC FR delivers outstanding mechanical performance, providing exceptional impact strength and stiffness comparable to engineering composites. It’s tough enough to handle the rigorous demands of drone components, functional gears, and protective automotive parts.
High Thermal Resistance While standard filaments deform under moderate heat, Bambu PC FR maintains its structural integrity at elevated temperatures, boasting a Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) of 113°C. This makes it ideal for parts operating near motors, electronics, or in demanding environments like automotive engine bays.
Seamless AMS Integration This is genuine Bambu Lab filament, complete with the RFID tag for seamless integration with the Bambu Lab AMS (Automatic Material System) and AMS HT. The printer instantly recognises the material and settings, loading the optimized profile required for perfect PC printing. (Note: Not compatible with the AMS lite).
Bambu PC FR is the ultimate material for engineers, advanced makers, and FPV drone builders across Australia.
Electronics & Prototyping: Create safe, compliant enclosures for Arduino/Raspberry Pi projects, power tool housings, battery brackets, and custom electrical junction boxes.
Drone & FPV Racing: Build robust drone frames, battery mounts, and component guards that can withstand high impacts and resist heat from motors and ESCs.
Automotive & Mechanical: Fabricate custom interior components, brackets, and engine bay parts that require high heat resistance and durability.
Functional Components: Any structural part where compliance, strength, and thermal stability are non-negotiable.
Bambu PC FR is an advanced engineering material. To achieve the best results and leverage its full capabilities, follow these expert recommendations:
Drying is Mandatory: Polycarbonate is extremely hygroscopic (absorbs moisture). Printing wet PC will result in poor layer adhesion, bubbles, and weak parts. For optimal performance dry using the AMS HT, otherwise you can dry this filament at 80°C for 8 before printing (using the Bambu AMS HT recommended), or a blast oven. Alternatively you can dry on a 3d printer bed for 12 hours at 90°C to 100°C.
Use High Temperatures: This material requires a hardened steel nozzle. We recommend the Bambu preset settings (Nozzle: 260-280°C / Bed: 90-110°C).
Enclosure Required: Printing PC requires a stable, hot ambient environment to prevent warping and ensure strong layer adhesion. An enclosed printer (like the Bambu Lab X1 or P1S) is necessary.
Bed Adhesion: Use the Bambu High Temperature Plate or Engineering Plate. Applying Bambu Liquid Glue or a PC-specific adhesive is essential for preventing warping and securing the part to the bed.
