Bambu Lab X2D: Advanced Dual-Nozzle 3D Printer

The X2D serves as the second-generation evolution of the premium X Series, engineered to bridge the gap between entry-level systems and the high-end H Series. It prioritises high-fidelity surface finishes and intricate detail resolution while maintaining an accessible price point for professional users.

What is the Bambu Lab X2D? The Bambu Lab X2D is an advanced dual-extrusion 3D printer for automated multi-material and multi-colour fabrication. Engineered to supersede the X1 series, it utilises a mechanical gear-and-trigger nozzle switching system rather than an IDEX architecture. This allows for zero-purge support material swapping within a 65°C actively heated chamber. Equipped with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) for high-frequency flow sensing and a Vision Encoder, the X2D maintains 50-micron accuracy across its build volume, making it the definitive platform for Australian engineering firms, STEM educators, and dedicated makers requiring strict dimensional tolerances.

Key Technical Objectives

  • Support Mitigation: Engineered specifically to reduce the mechanical impact of supports, minimising both post-processing removal time and surface scarring.

  • Refined Output: Delivers flagship-grade print quality characterised by crisp geometric edges and superior surface consistency.

  • Market Positioning: Provides a high-performance alternative to the industrial H Series, democratising premium X Series capabilities for a broader B2B audience.

Dual-Nozzle Architecture: Zero Extra Weight

Traditional dual extrusion adds massive inertial penalties. The X2D rewrites this physical limitation. It packs a proprietary gear-and-trigger mechanism directly into the toolhead. The nozzle-change lever taps the trigger arm, driving an internal gear train to physically swap nozzles in a split second. You get the clean, purge-free printing of secondary support materials without the mass of an IDEX system. Ghosting is eliminated. Surface finishes remain flawless, even at maximum travel speeds. Using both nozzles yields a functional build volume of 235.5 x 256 x 256 mm.

Advanced Thermal Control for Engineering Polymers

Temperature management dictates part strength. The X2D integrates a 300°C hotend with a 65°C actively heated chamber. Passive heat is insufficient for large-scale ABS, ASA, and nylon components. Active heating evenly distributes thermal energy, ensuring layer adhesion remains uniform from the bed to the final top layer. Corners do not lift. Delamination is engineered out of the equation.

For low-temperature materials like PLA, the system features a dedicated Cool Mode. Dual left and right intakes instantly flush the chamber with cool air. Overhangs stay sharp. Bridges land cleanly without drooping.

PMSM Flow Calibration & AI Monitoring

The X2D introduces a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). This serves as a high-precision, real-time sensor monitoring the physical state of the extrusion process. It reads torque and resistance. It distinguishes between the normal viscosity of melting plastic and the specific mechanical signature of a jam. The machine pauses instantly upon detecting an anomaly, preserving your print and protecting the hardware.

Coupled with a Vision Encoder, the system continuously tracks mechanical drift. Belts stretch over time. The Vision Encoder catches this reality, compensating dynamically to lock in 50-micron accuracy across the entire lifespan of the machine.

UL 2904 Certified Air Quality

We understand the realities of deploying hardware in Australian classrooms and compact engineering offices. The X2D runs a three-stage filtration system on every print: a G3 pre-filter, an H12 HEPA filter, and a coconut-shell activated carbon layer. It is UL 2904 certified for indoor air quality, maintaining safe VOC and particle emission levels in personal spaces. Active Motor Noise Canceling keeps operating volumes below 50 dB.

Faster, Smarter, and More Capable Than Ever. The New Standard for High-Performance 3D Printing Has Arrived in Australia.

Meet the Bambu Lab P2S, the evolution of the legendary P1S and the new workhorse for Australian makers. It’s not just an upgrade; it’s a revolution in your workshop. Experience blistering 600mm/s print speeds without sacrificing an ounce of quality, thanks to its rock-solid CoreXY frame and advanced vibration compensation. Unlock breathtaking multi-colour prints with seamless AMS 2 Pro integration, and take full command through a brilliant full-colour touchscreen. With a hardened steel nozzle ready for advanced materials and an intelligent, fully enclosed chamber perfect for our variable climate, the P2S is engineered to turn your most ambitious ideas into stunning reality, right out of the box.

The P2S takes the "it just works" philosophy of the beloved P1S and elevates it with a suite of technologies trickled down from Bambu Lab's flagship X1 Carbon and H2D series printers. This isn't just a printer; it's a complete, finely-tuned ecosystem designed for meticulous reliability and boundless creativity. It embodies a "Function Over Form" philosophy, where every detail of its minimalist design conceals meticulous engineering aimed at delivering an unparalleled printing experience.

  • Full-Colour Touchscreen: Intuitive control, right at your fingertips.
  • AMS 2 Pro & HT AMS Ready: Up to 20-colour/material printing for ultimate creativity.
  • PMSM Servo Extruder:Dramatic increase in servo force and high-flowrate stability with realtime filament flow dynamic monitoring for precise details and accuracy.
  • Quick-Swap Hardened Steel Nozzle: Unlock advanced and abrasive materials.

The Ultimate Multi-Colour Experience

Unleash a world of vibrant creativity with the P2S's seamless integration with the Bambu Lab Automatic Material System (AMS). The P2S is fully compatible with both the original AMS and the new-generation AMS 2 Pro, offering a true plug-and-play multi-filament experience. But the AMS is far more than a tool for multi-colour printing. It's a productivity powerhouse that streamlines your entire workflow.

  • Multi-Material Printing: Combine different materials in a single print, such as using soluble support filaments for impossibly complex geometries.
  • Automated Spool Switching: Load up multiple spools of the same material and the AMS will automatically switch to a new one when the first runs out, enabling massive prints without interruption.
  • Filament Management: Each AMS unit is a sealed, humidity-controlled environment, keeping your filament dry and ready to print. This is an essential feature for maintaining print quality in Australia's varied and often humid climates.

The P2S ecosystem is incredibly expandable. A single AMS 2 Pro unit allows for seamless 4-colour printing. For the ultimate creative freedom, you can connect up to four AMS units via the optional AMS Hub, unlocking the potential for 16-colour prints. To reach the maximum capability of 20 different colours and materials, this 16-colour setup can be combined with four additional single high-temperature HT AMS filament holders, allowing for breathtakingly complex jobs. While this process does generate purged filament waste as a trade-off for its capability, the creative freedom it provides is simply unmatched at this price point.
