What is 3D scanning? 3D scanning is the process of capturing the precise physical geometry of a real-world object to generate a high-resolution digital twin. A complete, professional 3D scanning ecosystem relies on three elements: the scanner hardware to capture point cloud data, calibration accessories to ensure dimensional accuracy, and processing software to align, clean, and mesh the data into usable CAD or polygon formats.

Capturing reality requires more than simply pointing a camera. It demands exact environmental control and metrology-grade calibration.
