felix 2.0 first impressions

I've had my felix 2.0 for a couple of weeks, as a complete noob took my time before my first print, got the test print on the second try, took me four goes to print a tardis I found on thingverse (third go failed cos my computer went to sleep mode (wtf?)
Really impressed with the quality and crispness of my prints. A little bit of fiddle, but well worth it.

Happy with my Felix printer

Took delivery of my Felix printer last week after a few weeks of waiting. The printer was well packed with lots of bubble wraps around it. I then spent a couple of hours going through the manual, setting up the software, fine-tuned the nozzle and the traverses. All checked well and I had a good printout in my second go. The bed and nozzle temperatures were set too low at first. Overall, quite happy with the Felix printer out-of-box.

The Felix 2.0 features-

  • * More reliable printing of large object due to very even heat distribution of heated bed.
  • * Stand-alone printing out of the box, no constant need of a computer.
  • * Higher quality prints.

NEW innovations

  • Foil heater for heated bed with integrated thermistor, very even heat distribution over whole print-surface. No more soldering/fiddling your components onto the heated bed, it is just a sticker mounted in 2 minutes. Saves at least one hour of assembly time.
  • * Z-axis completely revised. With new vertical linear ball bearing which like the x and y-axis has no play and friction.
  • * Precision machined trapezium lead screw
  • * Linear ball bearing guide
  • * Increased z-stroke enables a print height of 235mm
  • * All delivered components have longer wires, so no more soldering required, just cut them to length and screw them onto the electronics board.

New Electronics

  • * Industrially fabricated electronics, which increases reliability
  • * Only high quality components used, which require less cooling. Fan is not required anymore.
  • * Prepared for dual extrusion.
  • * Z-axis fine-adjustment, more robust and repeatable.
